Oppenheimer Huge Opening Day – Barbie Good: Oppeneheimer movie, set the box office on fire with collections of 13.50 crore nett which is more than films like Fast X and Mission Impossible which were both around the 12 crore nett mark. The film driven by the brand value of director Christopher Nolan has primarily collected in English.
There was a Hindi version of the movie, however it wasn’t released in Tamil or Telugu and barely made up 10% of the box office receipts. The movie did well in all of the country’s main cities, with the larger metros leading the way. When compared to Hindi films, English films benefit greatly from the South’s input. Oppenheimer had great success in Mumbai, a city that currently faces difficulties with Hindi films.
Barbie, the other Hollywood release, too did very well on day one, earning 4.25 to 4.50 crore nett. Although this may not seem like a lot, Oppenheimer was only shown on 1900 screens while the movie was only shown on 850 screens. It is a really good number for the release, and on top of that, the genre is not well-represented in India, where these kinds of movies rarely do well financially. However, there will be some consumers of the Barbie brand, particularly in the major metros.
